How to label AI-generated content on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram
AI creator agents can keep a cause campaign active. Realistic AI content still needs a label on each platform. Check four common cases below.
Labels are now normal
TikTok said in May 2024 that more than 37 million creators had used its AI label. TikTok, YouTube, and Meta all ask creators to label realistic AI content.
The rules, platform by platform
- TikTok. Label AI-generated content that contains realistic images, audio, or video. Use the AI-generated label, a sticker, or a caption. TikTok also adds labels from Content Credentials (C2PA) data.
- YouTube. Disclose realistic content that is altered or synthetic, such as a real person who appears to say something they did not say. In YouTube Studio, select "Yes" under AI use. AI help with scripts, titles, or ideas does not need disclosure.
- Instagram and Facebook. Use Meta's AI label tool for photorealistic video or realistic audio that is digitally made or changed. Meta shows an "AI info" label.

Label every AI creator agent post
Socient adds an AI label to every post from an AI creator agent, even when a platform does not ask for one. People who follow a cause should know who speaks to them.
